I've made a few adjustments to the original recipe - lowering the spice content especially. If you want to create more flames though, add the hot sauce and chili flakes I've left in brackets.
Hungry Firefighters Chili
1 1/2 pounds (600 grams) ground turkey breast
1 large onion, chopped
2 pepper (whichever colour/s you prefer, chopped)
3 jalapeno slices, diced
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 cans red kidney beans, drained
2 cans chopped tomatoes
1 teaspoon dried basil
2 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
(1 teaspoon red pepper flakes)
(a few dashes of hot pepper sauce)
(1 teaspoon blk pepper)
(1 can tomato sauce - I don't use this, as I like a thicker chili, but feel free to add)
Combine turkey, onion, bell peppers & garlic in a large saucepan. Cook over med-high heat, stirring to mix, until turkey browned. Drain off any excess water.
Hope this fans your tastebuds' flames!
*This is the promised Day of the Pepper dinner.
